DentalCharz · An ongoing software project

From impression to invoice.

A connected workflow platform for dental laboratories, clinics and production partners. Developed as a side project, DentalCharz is substantial software that is still evolving.

Built around the case

The details stay with the work.

The platform currently supports the workflows below, connecting the digital case to the people and physical work around it.

01 / Intake

Case intake and configuration

Case intake includes clinic and practitioner requests, physical or digital impressions, scans and attachments. Product configuration and tooth-level prescriptions sit alongside QR codes linking the physical case.

Medit Link integration and synchronisation support scanner-originated intake, automatically or manually, with product mapping to help prepare the draft.

02 / Production

Production and collaboration

Production includes statuses and stages, assignments, priorities, holds and alerts. Case conversations and production files stay attached to the work.

Lab, clinic and manufacturer handoffs include outsourced work, turnaround information and delivery expectations.

03 / Logistics

Logistics and traceability

Shipping workflows cover clinic-to-lab and lab-to-clinic shipments, shipment batches and labels through the Posti integration.

Physical case codes and component or increment tracking connect what is being made and shipped to the digital case.

04 / Commercial workflow

Fulfilment and invoicing

The platform includes a configurable catalogue, product options, tooth-level prescriptions and clinic-specific price lists. Live estimates give context while an order is configured.

Fulfilment-based invoicing, invoices and credit notes carry the work into billing, with VAT, payment terms and Maventa electronic invoicing.

05 / Clinic portal

Clinic portals

Branded portals bring practitioner and clinic access, case communication, files, status and delivery visibility into one place.

Custom domains, colours, logos and a multilingual interface let the portal fit the laboratory's customer experience.

06 / History & documentation

History and documentation

Case history and production records support auditability. Manufacturer information and custom-made device documentation stay connected to the case in supported workflows.

Documentation support continues to evolve with the rest of the platform.

A workflow example

One case, from scanner to invoice.

An illustrative path through DentalCharz. Intake and handoffs depend on the laboratory's configuration.

  1. Scanner case

A Medit Link case arrives with its scan files.

  2. Configured draft

Mapped products and the prescription are reviewed.

  3. Production

Work is assigned, with files and communication in context.

  4. Fulfilment

Components are completed and prepared for shipment.

  5. Invoice

Fulfilled work moves into billing and electronic invoicing.

Integrations

Connect the services around the case.

Medit Link

Scanner case intake, file synchronisation and product mapping.

Integration

Maventa

Electronic invoicing as part of the commercial workflow.

Integration

Posti

Shipping and labels connected to shipment workflows.

Integration

DS Core

Further scanner connectivity is being developed.

In development

Integration behaviour depends on the platform configuration. Product and service names belong to their respective owners; integration does not imply a partnership or endorsement.

Still evolving

An ongoing project.

DentalCharz is being developed alongside other work. It is the main place where I explore connected workflows, integrations and the details of dental-lab software.
